My focus is in building intuitive user experiences combined with well-planned, beautiful user interfaces, delivering a more pleasant experience for the end user while staying out of the way while they get something done. The user must be considered at all levels of the design, evaluation, wireframes, prototypes and complete artwork deliverables, ready for use in development.
While coming from a background in graphic, visual design and print production services, I have shifted my interest to analyzing the way humans interact with machines, tools and the gadgets surrounding us. In addition, I am intrigued, and learning about the code that runs behind the interfaces I design. Doing so allows me to connect better with programmers and understand how to best prepare my visual assets for integration into their development environment.
Having built skins for several yet-to-be-released Flex apps recently and staying on the edge of user experience recommendations, I can offer useful user insight and beautiful, compelling interface designs that will fit perfectly into a development team's workflow.
The challenge of creating a great icon charges my mind and love of drawing to come up with something that speaks clearly without words while beautifying the interface surrounding it.
Talent and skill in drawing and illustration (digital and traditional media) are my strongest skills and touch many of the projects I have worked on in the past, some of which can be seen in my Work section.
A set of illustrations exemplifying six design principles have been published in the O'Reilly book Designing Web Interfaces by Bill Scott and Theresa Neil.
